Started in 1994 by Michael Wood and Robert Lally, LeapFrog is a manufacturer of educational, interactive toys and games based in Emeryville, California, USA. The company started with the development of a crude prototype of what would become Phonics Desk by Michael Wood, who began was driven to develop the product when encountering difficulty in teaching his son to read.

Some of their most popular products include the touchscreen tablets LeapFrog Epic and LeapPad, the educational gaming console LeapTV, and interactive book the LeapReader. They were acquired by VTech in 2016.
