Marpac

Marpac is a manufacturer of sleep-assistance devices and white noise generating machines based in Wilmington, North Carolina, USA. The company was founded by Jim Buckwalter, whose wife Trudy suffered from insomnia.

The couple lucked upon the discovery that Trudy could sleep better in rooms an AC unit that provided a soothing, continuous hum; this led Jim to make a crude prototype of what would become the Sleepmate. The company now produces a range of different sound machines, as well as pillow speakers, and other sleep tool accessories.
