SHARP

Sharp, founded in 1912, was established by Tokuji Hayakawa as a metal workshop in Tokyo, Japan.

Its name is derived from the ‘Ever-Sharp mechanical pencil’, one of Hayakawa’s earliest inventions.

In the 1920s, the company concentrated its efforts on manufacturing radios before expanding into the production of a large range of consumer electronics including calculators, televisions, home and portable audio devices, mobile phones, air conditioners, microwaves, projectors, PCs and laptops, cameras, and solar panels.

Today, the company is based in Sakai, Japan.
